Have you tried creative writing?
I have come to a point in my life of accepting the strengths inherited in writing and speech. I have identified a charismatic approach to interactive communication. I have identified that I can be quite manipulative when I speak. My words may be prophetic, they may seem flirtatious, they may seem polite, and even aggressive. My speech may seem eloquent, it may seem seductive, and it may be non-existent to those who have yet to hear or read it.
Where it comes from? Well, I have also recognized having my father’s articulate tongue, my mother’s tone of voice and I have heard of having my grandmother’s persuasive and variating thought processes. To some, I seem extremely quiet and reserved. To others, I am quite the chatter-box who needs a sock-in-the-mouth.
Understand that after all the above statements, I am still more inclined to make the most sense when I “put pen to paper.” Putting pen to a paper creates an essence in first, free-writing the unruly thoughts of the mind. Second, to contemplate those unruly thoughts in exchange for structure and fluidity. I have accepted that I may not know every word or grammatical concept that exists, but I do give effort to the ones I am learning.
Now, there are instructions to this. The exposition of my words in writing are solely experiences. I can only make use of my craft if it is true to an inspired thought or encounter.
Writing is allowing me to reflect and hold accountability for everything I utter. This accountability has ventured into projects regarding future intentions. These descriptive ideas from putting pen to a paper create means for solid connections. Writing and reading consistently, establishes a foundation to reunite with what we say and think. In order words, they are also our affirmations.
“Words have presence, power, and prophetic implications. Words have life. Words are the only creative force of life. With words we create, re-create, change, prohibit, and allow things in our lives. This is the power of confession. Words have no geographical limitations; they can penetrate anything and anywhere.”—Goke Coker
So it is, that when I write, I also want my words to saturate and permeate as much hearts, minds, and souls. Especially, since in this time, it is the easiest to achieve free publication through various social media platforms. Whether I know it now or never, this may be an achievement towards someone else’s encouragement.
Words permit the mind to vent, and I pray for the ego to never withhold or inhibit these gifts inherited in speech and writing. At the end of it all, like Maya Angelou said, “there is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”
Here are some relatable quotes:
"Words are a lens to focus one's mind." ~Ayn Rand
“Every secret of a writer’s soul, every experience of his life, every quality of his mind, is written large in his works.” ~Virginia Woolf
